Building in the open

Remem is moving out of alpha and into public beta, alongside a few upgrades to how it captures your background.

• Certifications section — courses, credentials, and licenses now get their own place in your profile, right alongside experience and education.
• Smarter document detection — uploads are now classified by what's actually in them, not just the filename, so a certificate or cover letter lands in the right slot even with a generic name like "download.pdf."
• Improve wording, without losing your voice — the button formerly called Rephrase now saves its polished version alongside your original story answer instead of replacing it, so Remem keeps learning how you actually write.
• Clearer autofill status — status updates now read "Scanning Fields" and "Crafting Answers" instead of vault-speak.

Still pre-1.0, so expect the occasional rough edge — keep the feedback coming.

Dictation now works the way you want it to, wherever you're typing into Remem.

• Choice of engine — stick with the on-device model for fully offline, private transcription, or switch to Chrome's built-in speech recognition for instant results with no download.
• Opt-in from Settings — turn voice typing on when you want it, with a clear download-progress indicator the first time the on-device model is fetched.
• Available everywhere you write — Memory Builder chat and your story bank both get the same mic button now.
• Lighter install — trimmed the extension package by about a fifth, so it downloads and updates faster.

As always, the on-device engine never sends your voice off this device.

The Memory Builder is now the fastest way to teach Remem about yourself.

• Chat-based capture — answer natural questions, and confirm each extracted fact before it's saved.
• Voice dictation — talk through your employment history instead of typing it.
• CV upload — drop in a résumé and review the extracted facts one by one.
• Conflict resolution — when a new fact contradicts an old one, you choose which wins.

Everything captured stays on your device, as always.
